I have chosen the private pay, out-of-network model. I chose this model so I have the time freedom to be at my best – so my focus is on your wellbeing and mine. I’d rather maximize my time with you rather than spend a day/week submitting insurance claims, spending hours on hold with insurance companies, or risk exposing your protected health information by submitting claims on a website clearing house, or waiting months to be reimbursed at the rate set by the insurance industry. I’ve carefully set my fees to reflect the level of expertise I have garnered over the decades as well as help me sustain my business costs, liability insurance, maintain HIPAA compliance, afford the continuing education and licensure expenses, and take into account retirement planning, and time away for business development and self-care. Recognizing sessions are not affordable for everyone who would like to work with me, I am able to extend limited sliding scale rates to a percentage of my clients. My intention is to help more people obtain the quality care they desire, and avoid burn-out from over-extending myself.

Therapy services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan if you have out-of-network benefits. Coaching services and extended therapy sessions (60 mins. +) are not covered through most insurers. Insurance companies in Maine currently do reimburse for telemedicine sessions. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
- Do I have out-of-network benefits?
- What is my deductible and how much of it has been met?
- How many sessions are allowed?
- What is the coverage amount per therapy session, once the deductible is met? (You can ask me for my therapy session codes, my NPI number and fees prior to calling them, after our initial conversation.)
- Is prior authorization required? Do I need to obtain a referral from my primary care provider?
- Do I need a prior authorization for 60-min. therapy sessions (code 90837) or do you limit session length to 50 mins (code 90834)?
Calling big insurance companies isn’t what most people consider “fun” or even pleasant – I get it. So I completely understand if you find this too trying or challenging a task. You’ve got a lot on your plate – which is why you’re reaching out for help in the first place. So just ASK and I will call them in your stead, once we’ve determined that we’re a good fit for working together and I’ll find out for you.
Getting Reimbursement from your Insurer
Until you’ve met your deductible, you will not receive reimbursement. Depending on how often and how long we meet, and what other family or personal medical expenses you generate, you may not meet your deductible. That being said, you will want to file claims toward your deductible as we go along. You’ll receive an invoice every 6 sessions from me. You can use Reimbursify for assistance submitting, for less than $2 per submission, or do it yourself.
Reduced fee services are available on a limited basis, for a limited time. Please inquire at our meet and greet if your financial circumstances are such that you cannot afford services at my usual rate. We can discuss alternative treatment options/sliding scale or I can potentially suggest other providers.
Credit cards, health spending accounts, money orders, and checks received prior to service and made out to Mindful Guidance are accepted for payment. Expect to pay on the day of your session. If payment is delayed, then no further appointments will be scheduled until your balance is paid in full. For credit card payments or HSA’s I utilize a HIPAA compliant app called Ivy Pay. I will send you a text invitation to sign up with Ivy. You will receive a text from “TalktoIvy,” asking you to put your card information in just once. Then, every time I submit a charge to Ivy, you and I will receive a confirmation text. In the event you pay by check (always appreciated), I will still request you have a cc on file so I can log check payments. We can use it as a back-up in the event you forget your checkbook or run out of checks. You will only need to re-enter your cc information in the event you replace your card.
If you do not show up for your scheduled appointment, or you have not notified me at least 24 hours in advance, you will be responsible for the full session fee, unless we can find a time later in the same week to reschedule. If you are a coaching client, see the specifics spelled out in your coaching agreement form regarding pre-paid packages.

- Initial Meet & Greet – 30 – 40 mins, to evaluate our “fit” for working together – No charge
- Initial Evaluation and Diagnosis – 90 mins – $225
- Individual Therapy – 60 mins – $160
- Initial Life Coaching consultation – 90 mins $185
- Subsequent 75 min life coaching sessions $160 60 min life coaching sessions – $145
- 3-month and 1-month follow-up packages for life/sports/healing coaching available at a savings – please inquire.
One 10-min Phone Consultation per week, free of charge. Beyond this frequency, we can establish phone support sessions, pro-rated at $5 per minute, limited to 30 minutes, between 8 am and 7 pm EST Monday – Fridays. Please note that insurance companies may not reimburse you for telephonic sessions.
